A FAMILY, A HOME PROGRAM :
THE CIVIL SERVANTS 'HOUSING ESTATE
The “A family, a home” program was initiated by President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, with the firm intention to allow each and every Senegalese family to have access to affordable housing. It will benefit civil servants and all middle-income Senegalese families.
The Civil Servants' Housing Estate is part of the “A family, a home” program. It is a construction project of 5,000 affordable houses in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, and in the other regions of this country. The project involves the construction of 3,600 houses in Diamniadio, near Dakar, and 1,400 houses in other regions of Senegal. It is the result of an effective collaboration among Peacock Investments, the Government of Senegal through the Ministry of Housing, and Full Spectrum New-York.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Civil Servants' Housing Estate took place on May 4th 2010 and was attended by Mr Oumar Sarr, Minister of Housing and Mr Moulaye Gueye, mayor of Diamniadio. More recently, on October 28th 2011, President Abdoulaye Wade presided over the presentation of the Master Plan and a visit of the model houses on site.
